Griffins Top Lady Spartans, 5-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's soccer team lost to Chestnut Hill College, 5-0 in this afternoon's non-conference match up.  STAC had a few strong shots on goal that hit the crossbar, but could not connect.  Julia Karl had 7 saves for the Lady Spartans.

Mae Comerford had two shots on goal for STAC while Tori Matt, Becky Torres and Laura Neary each added one.  The Griffins outshot the Spartans twelve to five with Lauren Riiff having three shots on goal.  Riiff had one goal and two assists for Chestnut Hill. 

Lyssa Radetich scored the Griffins first goal at the 25 minute mark and Riiff added one to give Chestnut Hill a 2-0 lead at the break.  Riiff assisted the first two goals of the second half with a short chip to Carly DiGiovanni in front of the net and a cross to Morgan Fell.  Lauren Nolte added the final goal of the game off a free kick that ended up just out of the reach of Karl.

The Lady Spartans will be back in action on Saturday when they host Queens College at 2:30 p.m.
