Lady Spartans Top Clippers, 2-0 in Season Opener

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's soccer team beat Concordia College, 2-0 in the home opener.  Tori Matt scored both goals for the Lady Spartans giving head coach Graham Brown his first win on the women's side.  Clarissa Flores and Mae Comerford each added an assist.

Matt, the Lady Spartans returning leading goal scorer, scored her first goal at the 32:20 mark in the first half, off a short pass from Flores at the top of the box.  She added the second goal with 17 minutes left in the first half after receiving a cross from Comerford. 

Julia Karl recorded her first shutout of the season recording six saves.  Jessica Nanan had eight saves for Concordia including a penalty kick save.  The Lady Spartans will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Pace University for a 1:00 p.m. game.
