Lady Spartans Tie With Falcons, 2-2

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's soccer team tied with Felician College, 2-2 in Wednesday evenings game.  Mae Comerford and Tori Matt each scored for the Lady Spartans.  The women were two minutes away from a regulation time win until a deflected ball looped over the head of STAC keeper, Julia Karl, forcing overtime.

The Lady Spartans led 1-0 in the first half as Comerford scored off an assist from Matt.  The Falcons tied the game early in the second half.  Matt put the Lady Spartans back ahead with her goal 14 minutes into the second half as she collected a pass from fellow senior Liz Gronwoldt and launched a shot into the upper left corner.

STAC played a hard second half falling just minutes short of victory.  Kelly Moresi made two great saves late in the second half preventing the Falcons from scoring.  "The Lady Spartans freshmen players are beginning to grasp the fast, strong pace of college soccer and in turn the team is gaining some momentum," commented head coach Graham Brown.  "The girls are working so hard at training and really trying to help each other on and off the field.  I am delighted with how far we have come this year and hope they get a few more results to show for their hard work," remarked Brown.

STAC will travel to C.W. Post on Saturday for a 12:30 game.
