Queens Blanks STAC's Women's Soccer Team, 2-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team fell at Queens College, 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in an East Coast Conference match. Queens continued its impressive season by improving to 9-3-3 overall and 4-1-1 in conference action, while the Lady Spartans dropped to 2-8-1, 0-5-1.

Queens came in with a 5-1-1 record in their last seven games, having allowed just six goals in the span, and the defense was in full force. The hosts got on the board twice in the first 31 minutes on goals by Lorena Russi (5:46) and Sarah Boucher (30:36).

That would prove to be more than enough cushion for the Knights, at netminder Allison Breakey was forced to make just one save on the pair of shots her team yielded, outshooting the visiting Lady Spartans by a 10-2 tally. Amanda Volpe recorded four saves for STAC, which had been off since its 2-1 victory at Washington Adventist this past Monday.

A quick turnaround is in store for the Lady Spartans, who will host Maritime at Eugene Levy Park on Monday, October 15 at 3:30 pm. Should the game be played it will be the first home game of the 2012 campaign for the Lady Spartans.
