The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team yielded three goals in the first 13 minutes and fell at Roberts Wesleyan, 4-1, in the first ever East Coast Conference meeting between the teams. The Lady Spartans fall to 3-9-1 overall and 0-6-1 in ECC play, while RWC improved to 10-7-0, 4-4-0.

Despite winning two of their last three contests, the Lady Spartans came out flat after the long ride to Rochester, NY, and the hosts took full advantage with Brittany Kinmond scoring just 2:29 into play. Briana Tata - who assisted on the first goal - would double the score less than two minutes later, converting a free kick at the 4:29 mark to put the Redhawks up 2-0.

Alison Kendall put home her first from Ellie Swan at 13:08, and Roberts Wesleyan enjoyed a comfortable three goal cushion. STAC seemed to find its legs, however, leveling the play in spite of Kendall's second of the game (from Tata) at 31:34. The Lady Spartans' hard work paid off just before the close of the half, with Mae Comerford putting one off the crossbar and in for her 10th marker of the season with just 1:09 left in the half.

St. Thomas Aquinas was outshot 14-3 in the first 45 minutes but turned things around, holding a 6-3 edge of their own in shots after halftime, but they would not be able to draw closer. Marissa Sell and Breanna Maggio combined for four saves in net for the Redhawks, while Amanda Volpe turned aside five shots for STAC.

Today's contest was the first of four in eight days to wrap up the Lady Spartans' season. They will remain in upstate New York to face Daemen at 1:00 tomorrow, October 21; travel to play a night game at Bloomfield on Thursday, October 25, and finish with a Senior Day home game against Mercy at 12:30 next Saturday, October 27, at Eugene Levy Park.
