Flinn Scores Three as Women's Soccer Downs Lincoln, 3-1

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team won its second straight as Nisha Flinn netted all of the Lady Spartan goals in a non-conference, 3-1 win at Lincoln (Pa) University. STAC now stands at 2-10-0 on the season, with Lincoln dropping to 8-4-2.

It was STAC on the attack from the outset, with Flinn converting an assist from Vicky Saravia just over seven minutes into play to put the Lady Spartans ahead. Thirteen minutes later, it was Lindsey Sansone on the assist of Flinn's second, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead they would carry into the halftime break, on the strength of a 9-5 edge in shots.

Lincoln did cause some anxious moments as Tara O'Brien beat Lady Spartans goalkeeper Lauren Morales on a penalty kick just five minutes into the second half to trim the margin to 2-1. STAC would not be denied on this day, however, with Flinn applying the finishing touches to her hat trick with an insurance goal at 68:53.

STAC would continue to apply the pressure, outshooting the hosts by a 25-12 total, with Morales making four saves to preserve the win. Christian Harris and Emily Woodruff combined in the Lincoln net, making 13 total saves.

The Lady Spartans' 2013 season is now down to its final two games, both of which will be played at Spartan Field. This Saturday, October 26, they will host Molloy College starting at 12:00 noon, and they finish up on Friday, November 1 against Roberts Wesleyan College. Both games are East Coast Conference tilts, with both standing as the front end of double-headers before the men's teams take the field.
