Second Half Flurry Lifts Daemen over STAC Women's Soccer, 4-1

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team jumped out to a lead on Nisha Flinn's goal but were topped by a 4-1 margin against Daemen College in an East Coast Conference match up at Spartan Field. The Lady Spartans fall to 0-7-0 and 0-4-0 in conference play, with Daemen improving to 5-5-0, 1-4-0.

Flinn got the afternoon off to a promising start, taking a feed from Arieta Lecaj and dribbling skillfully through Daemen defenders before hitting the back of the net just under six minutes into play.

STAC maintained the lead until the visitors posted a momentum-changing marker late in the first half, with Rachael Banasek hitting twine with just over a minute remaining before the break. Banasek would give her team its first lead of the afternoon just three minutes into the second half, and tallies by Kacey Bougard and Kelly DuVall within the next 11 minutes provided a cushion that was too much for the hosts.

Lauren Morales played the majority of the game in net for the Lady Spartans, making five saves, while Avaree Rainford made one stop in being tagged with the loss.

St. Thomas Aquinas will now hit the road, traveling to take on Holy Family this Tuesday, October 8, before returning to Spartan Field to host Queens College in an East Coast Conference game starting at 12:00 noon. It's the front end of a double-header with the men's teams starting at 2:30 pm.
