STAC Women's Soccer Stopped at LIU Post, 6-1

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team suffered its first setback of the season, dropping a 6-1 East Coast Conference decision at LIU Post. The Lady Spartans had their unbeaten streak snapped at five, dropping to 4-1-1, and 1-1 in ECC play, with Post improving to 4-1-0, 1-1-0.

After opening the campaign with five straight home games, STAC hit the road for the first time and the Pioneers carried the play through the scoreless early minutes. The hosts finally broke through just over 30 minutes into play but scored two more over the next 10 minutes, taking a comfortable 3-0 lead into the locker room.

Post added two quick markers after the break before Nisha Flinn scored at the 54:15 mark to make the score 5-1, but the visitors would yield one more to account for the final score. LIU Post held a 22-3 shots advantage on the day, with STAC keeper Amanda Volpe recording three saves.

The Lady Spartans will have one week to wait for their next opponent, as they host Dowling College in another ECC test on Saturday, September 27 at Spartan Field. Kickoff is set for 12:00 noon as the front end of a double header with the men's teams to follow.
