STAC Women's Soccer Falls to Dowling, 2-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team came up short by a score of 2-0 in an East Coast Conference tilt against Dowling College at Spartan Field. Dowling improves to  5-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play, with STAC dropping to 4-2-1, 1-2-0.

Though the Lady Spartans had some opportunities early, Dowling goalkeeper was equal to the task, making a diving save on a Mae Comerford shot. The Golden Lions broke through at 11:41 when Kim Spiciarich converted from Kim Cottone to give the visitors a 1-0 lead, which held through halftime.

With the hosts looking for the equalizer, Dowling scored a big insurance goal as Linsday Thompson put a header over the outstretched hands of STAC keeper Amanda Volpe at 69:16, with Cottone providing her second assist of the day.

Dowling held the shots advantage by a 15-8 count, with Volpe making five saves to Guglielmo's three.

The Lady Spartans take to the road for their next three games, all ECC contests. They will travel upstate to play Daemon College on October 3 before moving on to Roberts Wesleyan on October 5. They travel to Queens on October 11 before returning home to face Post University at 1:00 pm on October 15 at Spartan Field.
