Shorthanded Lady Spartans Fall to 4-0 Loss at Georgian Court

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team saw an early red card make the difference in a 4-0 non-conference setback at Georgian Court. The Lady Spartans fell to 3-7 with the defeat, while Georgian Court improved to 9-1-1.

Just two days after an impressive 3-0 victory over Queens, the Lady Spartans were on their heels early and found themselves down a player when the hosts scored midway through the half on a penalty kick, and STAC's starting goalkeeper Lauren Morales was sent off on a red card, forcing the visitors down a player for the rest of the game.

GCU would take full advantage, with Lizzy Kroon scoring late in the first half to make the score 2-0, and adding a pair of second half tallies to complete the hat-trick and give her team the victory.

Courtney Dumain entered the game in relief, making nine saves while Morales was tagged with the loss. Georgian Court held a decisive 27-6 edge in shots for the afternoon.

The Lady Spartans play a pair of road East Coast Conference tilts starting at Mercy College on Saturday, October 10, followed by a trip to Molloy College on October 16. They return to Spartan Field to host the University of Bridgeport in another conference battle on Wednesday, October 21.
