Women's Soccer Falls to 2-0 Defeat at Molloy

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 East Coast Conference decision at Molloy College as the Lady Spartans fell to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play while Molloy raised it's mark to 6-5-2, 3-3.

After having trouble scoring goals of late, the Lady Spartans found themselves at an early deficit, as Shannon Murphy beat STAC netminder Courtney Dumain at 18:18 to give the Lions an early lead.

That margin would stand up through halftime but the hosts continued to press, with relief netminder Lauren Morales yielding a score to Danielle Valente just under 10 minutes into the second half to provide the final score. Morales recorded six second half saves to keep the Lady Spartans alive, as Molloy dominated with a 23-5 overall advantage on shots for the evening.

The Lady Spartans return to action on Wednesday, October 21, hosting the University of Bridgeport in an East Coast Conference tilt. Kickoff time is set for 1:00 pm, as the front end of a double-header with the men's teams to follow.
