Lady Spartans Dominate in 6-0 Soccer Victory at Washington Adventist

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team won its first game of the season, scoring early and often in a 6-0 victory at Washington Adventist. Lindsey Sansone and Alyssa Rosania netted a pair each for the Lady Spartans, who improved to 1-1 on the young season while dropping the hosts to 0-2.

Sansone wasted little time getting STAC on the board, converting a rebound of Kelsey Ardizzone's shot at the 6:06 mark to give the Lady Spartans a lead they would not relinquish. Just over four minutes later, Roasnia showed some deft moves in adding an unassisted talley to make the score 2-0, and she added another in similar fashion at 21:02 to add to the cushion.

Megan Finnen hit the net at 23:37 off a cross from Hailey Lindenberger to stake the Lady Spartans to a 4-0 halftime bulge. Lindenberger added her first marker of the season at 62:48 after a cross from Victoria Smith, and Sansone put the finishing touches on the goal outburst at 69:50 with her second of the day.

Lauren Morales played goal for STAC in the first half to earn the win, and the split shutout with second-half netminder Courteny Dumain was not threatened as the Lady Spartans outshot WAU by a convincing 24-3 total.

The Lady Spartans are halfway through their season-opening four-game road swing, which will see them travel to face Bloomfield on Tuesday, September 8, at 7:00 pm. They will grace the turf at Spartan Field for the first time in 2015 on Tuesday, September 15, hosting Malone in a 2:30 kickoff.
