STAC Women's Soccer Falls to 2-0 Defeat Against Daemen

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 East Coast Conference tilt against Daemen College at Spartan Field. The setback was the fourth straight for the Lady Spartans, who fell to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while Daemen improved to 3-5-1, 1-2-1.

STAC started slowly in the Sunday matinee, with Daemen carrying the play and holding a 6-2 edge in shots though the first half remained scoreless. The Wildcats broke through at the 61:35 mark, when Alexis Koral took a nice pass and slid a shot past diving goalkeeper Courtney Dumain.

While the Lady Spartans did mount some threats, Daemen was able to catch a break to put the game away with just over 10 minutes left when Korral mis-hit a shot from the top of the box that fluttered perfectly over Dumain and into the net for her second of the day at 79:27. The Wildcats ended with a 16-9 edge in shots, with STAC's netminder credited with six saves.

The Lady Spartans will not see action until Saturday, October 3, when Queens College visits Spartan Field for another ECC battle. Game time is set for noon, as the front end of a double-header followed by the men's teams starting at 3:00 pm.
