Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day before Falling to NYIT

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team dropped a 5-1 East Coast Conference decision to New York Institute of Technology at Spartan Field on Senior Day. The Lady Spartans are now 3-12 overall and 0-7 in the ECC, while NYIT is now 5-6-0, 2-4-0.

STAC came out inspired after the pregame festivities, and converted that momentum into an early goal. Victoria DiMarco made some stellar moves amid a trio of Tech defenders before feeing Nicole Rivera, who converted her ninth of the season after just 4:05 of play.

NYIT answered quickly, however, as Dina Simonian scored the next three goals in succession, one on an Olimpico directly off a corner kick. Kim Spiciarich added the next two tallies to boost the visitors to the win. Courtney Dumain made eight saves in the STAC net as her team was outshot by a 20-8 margin.

The Lady Spartans wrap up the 2016 season on the road, traveling to face LIU Post in a 12:00 noon start on Saturday, October 22.
