The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team fell to a 3-2 defeat in a non-conference contest at Holy Family University. The Lady Spartans are now 1-3-1 on the season with Holy Family improving to 4-1-0. STAC continued to play tough soccer, as each of its five games to date have been decided by one goal or less.

Holy Family hit the board at the 8:45 mark, with Stefanie Ulmer netting her third goal of the year on assist from Brianna Rock and Taylor Adair. Less than five minutes later, STAC's Natalie Albero sent a long ball to Sarah Colotti, who netted first first goal to tie the score at 13:13. With the first half literally in its waning seconds, the Lady Spartans were awarded a free kick and Mekenzi Moreau converted her fourth goal of the season with Colotti recording the assist, with just two seconds left before the break.

STAC held a 12-8 lead in shots through 45 minutes, but the hosts gained the momentum after the break despite yielding the late goal. Hannah Derby tied the score a 2-2 at 58:41, and Audry Esposito's unassisted tally at 74:28 proved to be the decisive goal. Holy Family ended up with a narrow 20-18 advantage in shots on the afternoon, with Lady Spartans goalkeeper Courtney Dumain accounting for eight saves.

The Lady Spartans travel to Bloomfield on Saturday, September 23, before returning home for two striaight East Coast Conference tilts, hosting Queens on Tuesday, September 26, and Bridgeport on Saturday, September 30.
