STAC Women's Soccer Drops Tough 1-0 Decision at Molloy

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team fell to a 1-0 defeat in an East Coast Conference game at Molloy College. The loss was the Lady Spartans' second straight by the same margin, and they now stand at 4-7-1 overall and 2-4 in the ECC, with Molloy improving to 5-6-2, 3-3.

Molloy hit the board early when Katlyn Merino's cross was put home by Lauren Marinello at the 6:22 mark. That tally would hold up over the final 83 minutes of play, as STAC goalkeeper Courtney Dumain kept her squad in the contest with eight saves. Dumain has now allowed just two goals over the last four games, and has yielded more than one opposing score just once in the past six contests.

Jackie Carty made six saves to earn the shutout for the Lions, who outshot STAC by a 15-9 margin on the afternoon.

The Lady Spartans are back in action for an ECC showdown against LIU Post on Saturday, October 21 at 12:30 pm at Spartan Field. The game is the front end of the double-header, to be followed by the men's teams in action starting at 3:00.
