Lady Spartans Fall at NYIT, 1-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team fell to a 1-0 defeat at New York Institute of Technology in and East Coast Conference contest. The Lady Spartans now stand at 4-6-1 overall and 2-3 in the ECC, with NYIT improving to 8-4, 3-1.

Coming off back-to-back shutouts in their last two games, the Lady Spartans defense continued its strong play through a scoreless first half, with each team recording just three shots at the opposition net. After the break, however, the hosts began to apply the pressure before finally breaking through.

STAC goalkeeper Courtney Dumain's program record-setting shutout string of 269:32 was finally ended on a penalty kick awarded to NYIT, which was converted by Dina Simonian at 66:25. Tech carried a 14-3 margin in shots on the afternoon, and Duman made six saves but that lone goal was enough to hold up as the final margin.

The Lady Spartans travel to face Molloy in another conference tilt on Wednesday, October 18 before returning home to Spartan Field to host LIU Post at 12:30 on Saturday, October 21.
