Dumain's Second Straight Shutout Leads STAC to 3-0 Win over Concordia

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team won it's second straight game, a 3-0 decision over Concordia College at Spartan Field. The Lady Spartans are now 4-5-1 on the season, with Concordia falling to 1-11-0. Courtney Dumain, the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, earned her second straight shutout and fourth of the season, giving her the new single-season record for clean sheets in STAC history, while running her current shutout string to 203:07.

Coming off the Lady Spartans' 2-0 blanking of Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, STAC carried that momentum early, with Victoria DiMarco sending a beautiful cross to the far post for the finish by Mekenzi Moreau to put the hosts on top at 6:46. Midway through the first half, STAC doubled that lead when Kelsey Ardizzone's pass found Sarah Colotti to make the score 2-0 at 21:59.

That score held up through halftime with the Lady Spartans enjoying a 7-3 advantage in shots, but it was the Clippers who carried the momentum after the break, only to be turned aside. Moreau then sent a touch to Nicole Wagner who made a powerful run down the left side and hit the net at 63:59, concluding the scoring for the day.

STAC ended the day with an 11-8 shots advantage, with Dumain turning aside four shots on the afternoon. This is the third time in program history that the Lady Spartans have registered back-to-back shutouts, with Dumain having accomplished the feat the first two games of the 2016 season, and Jeanette Gibson being the first to do so during the 2009 campaign.

The Lady Spartans travel to NYIT on Saturday, October 14 in an ECC battle at noon, then they play at Molloy on Wednesday, October 18. They return to Spartan Field to host LIU Post on Saturday, October 21 in a 12:30 pm start.
