Second Half Goal Costs Women's Soccer in 1-0 Defeat vs. Molloy

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Molloy College in an East Coast Conference contest at Spartan Field. With the loss, the Lady Spartans fall to 6-5-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the ECC, with Molloy improving to 4-7-1, 2-4-0.

Much of the first half play occurred in the midfield area, with neither team generating much offense and STAC holding a narrow 5-2 advantage in shots at the intermission. Molloy broke through at the 55:34 mark when Dana Poetzsch sent a nice touch to teammate Joanna Graca, who came in alone on the right side and beat a helpless Courtney Dumain in the STAC net to account for the day's lone tally.

Molloy locked down the lead from there, holding the hosts to just two second half shots while grabbing an 8-7 edge overall. Dumain made two saves while her counterpart, Jackie Carty, matched that total in recording the shutout for the Lions.

The Lady Spartans play their final road game of the season on Wednesday, October 17, traveling to face LIU Post. They will then play their final three at home, starting with a non-conference affair against Bloomfield College on Saturday, October 20.
