The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Southern Connecticut State University in a contest played at Southern New Hampshire University. STAC now stands at 0-2 on the season while SCSU improves to 2-0.
Midway through the first half, Southern Connecticut's Kaitlyn D'Amico broke the scoreless tie, hitting the net at the 25:03 mark. While STAC kept it close, offensive opportunities were hard to come by and the Owls added a late insurance marker with Kelly Lamb's goal at 86:43. STAC was held to just four shots on the day, and goalkeeper Alex Santoriello made two saves while absorbing the loss.
The Spartans return home to play their first four games of the season on the friendly turf of Spartan Field. On Wednesday, September 11, St. Anselm pays a visit for a 3:00 pm start, with Concordia (Sat., 9/14, 1:00 pm) and Dominican (Wed., 9/18, 3:00 pm) waiting in the wings. They will round out that set with their East Coast Conference opener, hosting the University of Bridgeport on Saturday, September 21 in an 11:00 am start)
