STAC, Queens Grind Out 0-0 Overtime Tie in Women's Soccer

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team played to a 0-0 overtime tie in an East Coast Conference battle against Queens College at Spartan Field. The Spartans now stand at 1-11-2 overall and 1-4-2 in ECC action, with Queens at 7-7-1, 1-4-1.

Neither team was able to generate offense in a tightly played first half, which ended with Queens holding a 3-2 advantage in shots. The Knights had the best chance of the day in the fourth minute of the second half, as Stacy Gomez was alone in front only to be thwarted by a spectacular diving save but STAC goalkeeper Colleen Stevens.

That preserved the scoreless tie through 90 minutes of play, with each team recording just seven shots through the end of regulation. Queens recorded four of the five shots in extra time but the goalkeepers persevered, as Queens' Shenae Kreps equalled Stevens in earning the clean sheet over 110 minutes of action.

The Spartans host Nyack College for Senior Day on Saturday, November 2 at 11:00 am, then travel to Pace University on November 5, before wrapping up the season at home against Daemen College on November 9.
