Sparkill, N.Y. – The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Soccer team fell to Molloy University, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field. The Spartans moved to 1-5 and 0-2 in the ECC, while the Lions improved to 6-1-1 and 2-0 in conference play.
How it Happened
- Molloy was on the attack from the opening whistle, with four of the first five shots of the match through the first 14 minutes.
- In the 15th minute, a goal from Lions midfielder Eleni Sofroniou gave Molloy a 1-0 lead. Teammate Morgan Camarda picked up the assist on the play.
- Molloy doubled its advantage at 2-0 in the 38th minute, as Sienna Nicolich tallied via a pass from Joanna Graca
- In the opening minutes of the second stanza, Eleni Sofroniou scored her second goal of the afternoon via a penalty kick to give the Lions a commanding 3-0 lead.
- The final goal of the match came by the visitors in the 75th minute courtesy of an Erin Fogarty strike with the helper going to Sarah Tappetto on a throw-in moments earlier.
