Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Soccer team opened its East Coast Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-1 to Molloy University at the RVC Sports Complex on Long Island.

STAC slips to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in ECC play, while Molloy improves to 2-1-3 and 1-0.

The Spartans lone goal in the match came courtesy of Ella Connolly (2nd).

How it Happened

  • 35th Minute: An initial cross attempt by Isabella Muro was stopped by keeper Haley Liss, but a loose rebound was put to the back of the net by teammate Lauren Marinello to make it 1-0 Molloy.
  • 48th Minute: On a midfield turnover by the Spartans, Edith Vanegas' cross into the box from just outside the 18, found the foot of Olivia Ingenito, who put a soft shot past the sliding STAC keeper Catalena Robson to give the Lions a two-goal advantage at 2-0.
  • 53rd Minute: Off of a STAC throw-in, Rachel Brownell would take the ball and dance through several Molloy defenders, putting a pass into the box that would be tipped in past keeper Elyse Munoz, on a bounce, by Ella Connolly to cut the deficit to 2-1.
  • 64th Minute: The final goal of the match came via a Molloy throw-in and a series of headers, which found the foot of Olivia Ingenito for a second time. Ingenito would rifle a high shot just under the bar, beating Robson to put the Lions ahead 3-1.
