Steen Scores in 3-1 Loss At Bridgeport

Bridgeport, Conn. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Soccer team wrapped up its three-match roadstand on Wednesday evening, falling to the University of Bridgeport 3-1 at Knights Field.

STAC falls to 0-4-2 overall, while Bridgeport improves to 2-2-2 on the season.

Leigh-Ann Ramsey, Luiza Macedo and Angelina LoFranco each tallied goals for the host Purple Knights, as goalkeeper Angelina Griva (W, 2-2-2) turned away five of six shots faced to earn her second win in six tries.

Meanwhile, Amalie Steen scored her first of the year for the Spartans, to end a four-match team goalless drought. Netminder Catalena Robson (L, 0-3-2) made three stops on six shots for St. Thomas Aquinas.

How it Happened

38th Minute: A turnover by the Spartans at midfield, led to a partial breakaway for Leigh-Ann Ramsay. Beating her defender, Ramsay fired a shot to the top-right corner of the net, beating Catalena Robson to make it 1-0 Bridgeport.

57th Minute: On an offensive rush, Bridgeport's Melike Dincel sent a touch into the box from the far sideline, where teammate Leigh-Ann Ramsay head the ball to the foot of Luiza Macedo for a boot past the diving Robson at the right post, doubling the Purple Knights advantage at 2-0.

73rd Minute: Ninni Ringstad's corner kick found the head of Amalie Steen, who flicked it into the net past Angelina Griva, to cut the STAC deficit to 2-1.

83rd Minute: Bridgeport's insurance goal came with just over seven minutes to play in the match as Chloe Oudin's feed to Angelina LoFranco was fired from outside of the box, past the outstretched hand of Catalena Robson and off of the crossbar to the back of the onion bag to make it 3-1.
