
Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Soccer team saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to an end, as Molloy University took a 5-1 decision from the maroon and gold on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.
STAC slips to 3-6-3 overall and 2-2-1 in ECC play, while Molloy improves to 6-4-2 and remains perfect in conference action at 4-0-0.
Prior to the match, the Spartans honored its graduating senior class; Kiley Metcalf, Kara Hill, Rachel Brownell, Natalie Oden, Emily Ras and Olivia Gaillard with on-field ceremonies, which included the athletes' families, friends, teammates, coaches and college administrators.
Once the contest got underway, Molloy's Mikaela Barriga, Sarah Cavallo, Olivia Ingenito, Jana Strait and Madison Keenan ruined the Spartans' festive atmosphere by scoring a goal apiece for the visitors, including three goals in the first half. STAC's lone goal came via Amalie Steen's seventh tally of the season on a feed by teammate Sophie Stanley in front of the net.
In goal, Elyse Munoz (6-4-2) stopped eight of nine shots faced to earn her sixth win in 12 tries for the Lions. On the other end of the field, Catalena Robson (L, 2-5-3) turned away four of nine shots for the Spartans.
