Women's Soccer Suffers 2-0 Shutout Loss To Queens

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Soccer team dropped a 2-0 conference result to Queens College on Sunday afternoon at Spartan Field.

STAC falls to 3-8-3 overall and 2-3-1 in ECC play, while Queens improves to 8-5-1 and 4-2-0. However, by virtue of the weekend's results, the Spartans have clinched the program's first-ever playoff bid in the upcoming East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Tournament.

Ashley Kieblesz and Julia Ragone tallied a goal apiece for Queens.

Amalie Steen, Sarai Rodriguez, Kara Hill, Sophie Stanley, Kaitlyn Maguire and Olivia Gaillard each posted shots on frame for the Spartans, and saw them all saved by Knights keeper Samantha Hines-Hirsch (8-5-1) to earn her eighth win in 14 tries.

Catalena Robson (L, 2-6-3) got the start in net for STAC and made two saves on five shots over the first 45 minutes, before Haley Liss was called upon to backstop the second half. Liss stopped all six shots that she saw over the final 45 minutes.
