The St. Thomas Aquinas women's tennis team struggled against top pre season pick, NYIT, losing 9-0. Sara O'Brien and Biance Signore lost, 8-0 in the top flight double match. Signore fell, 6-0, 6-3 in her singles match and O'Brien lost, 6-1, 6-0.
NYIT swept all doubles matches to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. First to finish at no. 1 doubles was the pair of Karolina Pondusova and Gabriela Siembab who took an 8-0 victory from their counterparts before the pair at third doubles, Antonella Lopez and Paulina Velasquez, finished with an 8-1 win. Lena Dimmer and Melanie Benyadi also shut out their opponents in an 8-0 final.
The Spartans will return to action on Saturday when they face LIU Post for another ECC match.
