Spartans Rohr and Burnett Sweep ECC Women's Tennis Weekly Awards

St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis players Cassandra Rohr and Ayesha Burnett were recognized by the East Coast Conference with Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors respectively on Monday, after the Spartans went 2-1 on the week, with a pair of victories over University of the Sciences and Jefferson University.

Rohr (Jr./Mallorca, Spain) went 3-0 in singles last week as the Spartans prepare for the upcoming ECC Championship. She won at No. 4 singles against USciences (Myra Anwar: 2-6, 6-4, 6-2), Jefferson (Ines Blanc: 6-0, 6-7, 6-3), and New Haven (Nicole Mika: 6-1, 7-5).

Meanwhile, Burnett (Fr./Wellington, New Zealand) was a perfect 3-0 in singles and doubles play for the Spartans last week. All three doubles wins came at the No. 2 spot. In singles play she beat Julia James of USciences (No. 6: 6-0, 6-2), Eryn Nguyen of Jefferson (No. 5: 6-0, 6-0), and Katherine MacPhail of New Haven (No. 5: 7-6, 6-0). 

The Spartans 9-4 overall (3-2 ECC) are next up against Kutztown University for Senior Day on Tuesday, October 22.  Due to inclement weather, the match will be held at Washington Township Tennis & Fitness Club.  First serve is set for 3:00 PM.
