Garden City, N.Y. - The #3/#33 ranked St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team rallied from an 0-2 deficit to win five straight singles matches and clinch a thrilling 5-2 victory over #8/#68 Adelphi University on Friday afternoon.
STAC began the afternoon, dropping two of three doubles matches and the first set in five of the six singles competitions. However, the grit and determination of the Lady Spartans prevailed once Paula Palero got the maroon and gold on the scoreboard with her victory at the No. 4 position. The triumph opened the door for the STAC, winning three setters at four spots, and showed the outstanding physical conditioning of their athletes, which was a major factor in the team's come-from-behind win. Elita Silins was the hero on the day for St. Thomas Aquinas, picking up the clinching point at No. 6.
