Westbury, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team closed out its 2021 Fall Regular Season Schedule, defeating Molloy College 7-0 on Saturday morning at Eisenhower Park in Westbury.
STAC improves to 9-1 overall and 4-1 in ECC play, while Molloy falls to 1-7, 1-3. The Spartans ride a hot streak in the postseason, winning a program-best nine matches in a row, and are unbeaten in their last 10.
STAC opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play. The Spartans took two-out of-three competitions, as Viktoriia Pavlovets and Ayesha Burnett played at No. 3 and took care of business vs. Hannah Niggemeier/Amanda Oppedisano, 6-1. Samanta Villegas Robles and Elita Silins defeated Briana Gonzalez/Brooke Williams, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles to clinch the team point.
St. Thomas Aquinas led 1-0 after doubles and did not let off the gas in singles competition, taking all six singles competitions. Vera Gak Anagrova defeated Brooke Williams, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, while Giovanna Jallas defeated Briana Gonzalez, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Viktoriia Pavlovets took care of business at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Alyssa Baur to clinch the match for STAC. Ayesha Burnett defeated Amanda Oppedisano, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6, Elita Silins defeated Hannah Niggemeier, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 and Karina Blas closed things out with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Julie Riedel at the No. 1 position.
