
Philadelphia, Pa. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team took its current winning streak to eight games with an outstanding performance against the University of the Sciences on Monday, as the Spartans downed the Devils 6-1 in the City of Brotherly Love.
STAC opened things up by sweeping all three doubles matchups to secure the team point. Eliza Mulder & Paula Palero took a 6-2 victory at No. 3, followed by a 6-3 win by No. 1 Ebba Rosberg & Samanta Villegas Robles. Finally, Elita Silins and Jemima Parkinson closed things out with a 6-4 triumph at the No. 2 position.
The Spartans then went on to win five of six singles contests to clinch the overall match. Ebba Rosberg beat Charlotte Kordonowy (6-7 (5), 6-3, 1-0 (5)), Karina Blas defeated Myka Williams (6-1, 6-1), Paula Palero dispatched Rosemary Esquivel (6-0, 6-2), Samanta Villegas Robles bested Myra Anwar (6-4, 6-0) and Elita Silins defeated Stephanie Mazurek (6-1, 6-1). The team's only blemish came as Viktoriia Pavlovets fell to Kirsten Wijnsema 7-5, 6-1.
