
Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team wrapped up its three-game homestand in dominant fashion Monday afternoon, shutting out Dominican College in a 7-0 contest at the Riley Family Tennis Courts in Sparkill.
STAC opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play, taking three straight matchups to secure the team doubles point. The duo of Viktoriia Pavlovets and Giovanna Jallas cruised to a 6-0 victory at No. 3, followed by Karina Blas and Vera Gak Anagrova taking a 6-2 win at the No. 1 position. Samanta Villegas Robles and ECC Rookie of the Week Elita Silins closed things out with a 6-1 triumph.
Once the Spartans secured the doubles point, there was no turning back. St. Thomas Aquinas jumped right into singles play, taking all six singles matches from Dominican to secure a win on the day. Elita Silins started the victory spree in the No. 3 slot, taking a 6-0, 6-0 victory from Steffy Espejo. Giovanna Jallas followed the trend taking a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 4 slot from Nora Frederick to give the Spartans a 3-0 lead roughly halfway through the afternoon. Karina Blas took a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 1 spot to clinch the overall team victory, opening the door for No. 2 Viktoriia Pavlovets (Win: 6-3, 6-2), No. 6 Vera Gak Anagrova (Win: 8-1) and No. 5 Flaminia Maria Valci (Win: 6-1, 6-2) to keep the shutout victory intact.
