Women's Tennis Opens Spring Schedule Blanking Edinboro, 7-0

Queens, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team opened its 2022 Spring Schedule, shutting out Edinboro University, 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Queens College Tennis Center.

STAC improves to 10-2 overall, while Edinboro falls 5-2.

STAC opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play. The Spartans took all three competitions, as Paula Palero and Eliza Mulder played at No. 3 and took care of business vs. Ana Nadai & Maria Clara Salomao, 6-1. Elita Silins and Karina Blas defeated Rafaella Negrao de Almeida & Marina Zottele, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles to clinch the team point, while the team of Ebba Rosberg and Samanta Villegas Robles completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 victory over Vidisha Pallamreddy & Luciana Ponce at the No. 1 spot.

St. Thomas Aquinas led 1-0 after doubles and did not let off the gas in singles action, taking all six competitions. Elita Silins defeated Ana Nadai, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, while Paula Palero defeated Anisha Thada, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Samanta Villegas Robles took care of business at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Marina Zottele to clinch the match for STAC. Karina Blas defeated Rafaella Negrao de Almeida , 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, Viktoriia Pavlovets defeated Luciana Ponce, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 and Ebba Rosberg closed things out with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Vidisha Pallamreddy at the No. 1 position.
