STAC Women's Tennis Team, Parkinson, Silins, Rosberg &  Villegas Robles Earn ITA Division II National Rankings Recognition

On Wednesday, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its latest Division II Women’s Team, Singles and Doubles National Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point.

National Rankings consist of the Top 50 squads. along with Top 75 singles players and Top 50 doubles teams.

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team currently ranks #31 in the nation, while Spartan Ebba Rosberg comes in at #35 in singles action. Additionally, the pair of Rosberg and teammate Samanta Villegas Robles rank #23, and the duo of Jemima Parkinson and Elita Silins placed #48 in doubles play.

 

STAC currently sits at 11-4 overall and 4-1 in ECC play, having captured their second straight ECC Tournament Championship back in late October. The maroon and gold have wins over Chestnut Hill (4-3), Molloy (7-0), District of Columbia (5-2), West Chester (7-0), Post (7-0), D"Youville (6-1), Daemen (6-1), District of Columbia-ECC Semifinal (4-0), Queens - ECC Final (4-1), Bentley (7-0) and Adelphi (6-1). The team's blemishes come via regular season setbacks to Queens (4-3), Lewis (6-1), Lubbock Christian (4-3) and Texas-Tyler (4-3).

Parkinson (Sr.|Gloucester, England) and Silins (Sr.|Northampton, England) currently hold a 14-2 mark in doubles action on the season and reached the quarterfinal round of the ITA East Region Doubles Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center last September. The duo was defeated in the Round of Eight by their fellow Spartan teammates Ebba Rosberg and Samanta Villegas Robles.

Rosberg (Sr.|Stockholm, Sweden) and Villegas Robles (Sr.|Leon, Mexico) held a record of 11-4 in doubles play this season and swept their way to the finals of the ITA East Region Doubles Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center last September.

Rosberg compiled a record of 12-2 in singles play on the season and was named both the ECC Women's Tennis Player of the Year and an All-Conference First Team selection. The STAC senior also earned her first ITA Singles Championship by sweeping through the East Region at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center last fall.
