St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis athlete Ebba Rosberg has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday, following her ITA East Region Singles Championship victory at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
As the top-seeded singles player, Rosberg (Sr./Stockholm, Sweden) had a first round bye and cruised through her opponents to the semifinal, where she had her first test, defeating sixth-ranked Jess Purdy of Wilmington (7-5, 7-5). In the women's final, Rosberg battled third-ranked Aliina Kupfer of Southern New Hampshire to a third set tie-breaker (7-6, 6-3, 10-8) to win the ITA East Regional title.
STAC (1-0, 0-0 ECC) opens its East Coast Conference schedule, hosting Queens College on Saturday, September 23. The Spartans and Knights are set to square off at Noon on the Riley Family Tennis Courts.
