Orchard Park, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team posted its fifth straight victory, taking a 6-1 decision from D'Youville University in ECC action on Friday evening at the Southtowns Tennis Center.
STAC opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play. The Spartans swept all three matches, as Viktoriia Pavlovets and Giovanna Jallas played at No. 3 and took care of business versus Hannah Flynn and Yelizaveta Prokopenko, 6-0. Jemima Parkinson and Elita Silins then defeated Yuliia Kashtelian and Khushi Agarwal, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, with the third doubles contest going the way of Ebba Rosberg and Kateryna Kryuchkova by the score of 6-0 over Paola Ermina and Maria Campisi at the No. 2 position.
St. Thomas Aquinas led 1-0 after winning the doubles point and did not let off the gas in singles competition, taking five of six matches. Alba Guijo defeated Yelizaveta Prokopenko, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles, while Giovanna Jallas defeated Hannah Flynn, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 to give the Spartans a commanding 3-0 advantage. Kateryna Kryuchkova took care of business at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Paola Ermina to clinch the team victory. Elise Semmartin defeated Maria Campisi, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 and Elita Silins defeated Khushi Agarwal, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. The No. 1 singles match went the way of D'Youville's Yulia Kashtelian via a 7-6 (5), 6-0 victory over Viktoriia Pavlovets to break the shutout.
