
Orlando, Fla - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team wrapped up its 2025 Florida Spring Break tour by blanking Winona State University, 7-0, on Friday at the USTA Lake Nona Campus.
STAC improves to 9-4 on the year, while Winona St. falls to 4-7.
The Spartans claimed the doubles point by winning two of three bouts, as No. 3 Elise Semmartin & Mar Caneves Bufi defeated Ally Burger & Clara Thoemke 6-1, and No. 1 Courtney Fyvie & Elita Silins bested Lainy Ristau & Halle Rosentreter 6-2. In between the STAC wins, No. 2 Skyler Gary & Kate Velander took down Kateryna Kryuchkova & Sun Zhuoxuan 7-6 (3) to avoid the sweep.
Once the sides turned their attention to singles competition, the maroon and gold would take all six matchups. No. 2 Elita Silins was the first winner, claiming her match 6-0, 6-0 from Miranda Daulong. Elise Semmartin next won at No. 3 singles over Ally Burger by the score of 6-0, 6-0 to give STAC a commanding 3-0 advantage. The Spartans picked up a win at No. 4 singles, as Kateryna Kryuchkova earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Clara Thoemke to clinch the match. No. 1 Courtney Fyvie vs. Lainy Ristau (6-3, 6-1), No. 5 Mar Caneves Bufi vs. Nikita Agrawal (6-2, 6-1) and No. 6 Sun Zhuoxuan vs. Elysia Beynon (7-5, 6-1) also earned wins for St. Thomas Aquinas.
