Spartans Compete in First Triathlon Race

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's triathlon team competed for the first time in the programs history on Saturday afternoon in the Windmill Triathlon at the Windmill Club in Armonk, NY. All eight women have done a tremendous job preparing for their historic event for the college. The race consisted of a 1/3 mile swim, a 14 mile bike ride and a 3.5 mile run.  Sophomore Mary Dristle lead the way for the Spartans as she place 3rd overall. Behind her, coming in 7th overall, was junior Jennyfer Huerta. Other stand out performances came from Freshman Kristie Hanlon, who was the first Spartan out of the water (2nd overall) and led the Spartan charge into the transition area. Senior Amber Lubaszka showing her true strength during the 3.5 milerun gaining magnificent ground. 

The Spartans will compete in the Skylands Triathlon on Saturday, September 8th in Clinton, NJ.
