Spartan Triathlon Trio Named 2018 Scholar All-Americans

On Wednesday evening, the College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) released its list of Scholar All-Americans, recognizing women's varsity student-athletes and teams that excelled both in the classroom and on the race course during the 2018 season. St. Thomas Aquinas College Triathletes Kristie Hanlon, Sylvie Bischof and Tyiana Nunez were each named Scholar All-Americans in their first seasons of competition.

In order to receive such an honor, varsity athletes must have competed in the 2018 Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships (all divisions) and maintained a GPA of 3.5 or better throughout the 2018 fall semester of competition. 

Hanlon (Fr./New City, NY), who finished 18th overall at the East Regional Qualifier on October 20th, is currently studying in the field of Natural Science and Education.

Bischof (Fr./Melbourne, Australia), who finished 4th overall at the Skylands Triathlon on September 9th, is persuing a degree in Biology. Sylvie is also a member of the STAC Track & Field team.

Nunez (Jr./Westwood, NJ), who had strong performances in all of the triathlon events during this past season, is studying Criminal Justice, while also minoring in Forensic Psychology. Tyiana is also a member of the Spartan Track & Field squad.

In their inaugural season of competition, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Triathlon team participated in five contests, including the East Region Qualifier, where the team finished in the top 5 allowing them to advance to the college's first-ever National Championship event.

Official CTCA 2018 Scholar All-Americans Release
