Women's Triathlon Opens 2023-2024 Campaign at Duquesne University Invitational/Beaver County Tri Cup
Beaver Falls, Pa. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Triathlon team opened its 2023-2024 season at the Duquesne University Invitational/Beaver County Tri Cup in the Keystone State on Saturday, September 9.

In the first face of the season, weather was a factor as pouring rain added a little drama. Unfortunately, in the high contact world of triathlon swimming, junior Hanna Jung took an accidental hit to the head and could not continue.

Freshman Tylor Brino-Dean took the reins in her first-ever NCAA race and did a great job, especially on the bike, where she posted one of the faster splits on the day.

Meanwhile, teammate Chanelle Russell, who was also competing in her first collegiate event, did her best with the weather and only one week of preparation after arriving from her home in Jamaica to finish strong.

Congratulations to both of our freshmen on completing their first NCAA races!

The Spartans will next be in action on Sunday, September 24 at the Giant Acorn Triathlon in Spotsylvania, Virginia.
