Rock Hall, Md. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Triathlon team was back in action on Sunday. competing in the Waterman's Sprint Triathlon on the edge of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
It was an excellent race for freshmen Spartans Tylor Brino-Dean and Chanelle Russell. Brino-Dean used the fifth fastest bike leg of the race to bump up to 12th place overall in the NCAA wave and was also the first Division II competitor to cross the finish line. Meanwhile, Russell put in another strong effort and is improving each and every race, as the season moves toward regional and national events.
STAC now begins preparations for the Women's Collegiate Triathlon East Regional Qualifier, which takes place at Smith Mountain Lake in Huddleston, Virginia on Saturday, October 14. The team also looks forward to welcoming back junior captain Hanna Jung, who has been out of action since the Duquesne University Invitational/Beaver County Tri Cup on September 9 due to an injury suffered during the race.
