
On Wednesday, the College Triathlon Coaches Association announced their annual Scholar All-American teams and athletes for 2024.
St. Thomas Aquinas College was named for the distinction based on the outstanding academic work from triathletes Hanna Jung (Sr.|Siegen, Germany) and Chanelle Russell (So.|Kingston, Jamaica).
In addition, Russell was tabbed an Honorable Mention Scholar All-American for her outstanding work on both the race course and inside the classroom during the fall 2024 semester. Chanelle currently majors in Computer Science while also minoring in Economics.
In total, 33 different programs across Division's I, II and III were named to the Scholar All-American Teams for their efforts during the 2024 season.
Overall, there were 152 women from 34 different NCAA institutions who were bestowed Scholar All-American statuses for their efforts during this past season.
In order to qualify for Scholar All-American distinction, teams must be current CTCA members and have a GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, while student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale throughout the fall semester of competition.
