Williamsburg, Va. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Triathlon team kicked off its 2024-2025 campaign at the Patriot's Sprint Triathlon in Virginia on Sunday.
Spartans Hanna Jung and Chanelle Russell finished 13th and 16th respectively in the NCAA varsity field and successfully implemented what they have worked on during the preseason.
Racing against mostly Division I athletes, the STAC duo held their own. Jung had a strong start with a solid swim and bike, while Russell put together a strong bike and her best run to date, to bring her closer to the front of the race.
There's no rest for the Spartansm as they head to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the first Collegiate Cup Draft Legal Race, the Beaver County Tri Cup/Duquesne University Invitational, on September 14.
