
Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team kicked off its weekend of back-to-back tri-matches, hosting both Assumption University and the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown on Friday at the Spartan Athletic Complex.
In a hotly contested pair of matches, STAC evened its record to 3-3 on the year with a hard-fought 3-0 victory over the Greyhounds, before falling to the Mountain Cats, 3-0. Assumption moves to 0-5 on the season, while Pitt-Johnstown remains unbeaten at 6-0.

How it Happened
- As a team, STAC recorded 35 kills compared to Assumption's 32. The Spartans also had 6 blocks and 35 assists, while the Greyhounds tallied 1 block and 31 assists.

- Evie Paalman paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 15 kills. She also registered two service aces, team-high nine digs and one block assist.

- As a team, Pitt-Johnstown recorded 42 kills compared to STAC's 24. The Mountain Cats also had 7 blocks and 39 assists, while the Spartans tallied 6 blocks and 22 assists.
- Pitt-Johnstown outhit STAC by a .212 to .041 margin for the match.
- Evie Paalman paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 11 kills. Paalman also registered a team-high 13 digs in the match.

The Spartans will first battle the Warriors at 12:00 p.m., before taking on the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Both visiting squads will tangle in a match which begins at 2:00 p.m.
