Women's Volleyball Wraps Up Western New York Road Trip, Falling At Daemen 3-1

Amherst, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team concluded its Western New York road trip with a 3-1 defeat to Daemen University on Sunday afternoon at Lumsden Gymnasium.

STAC falls to 4-8 overall and 0-2 within the ECC, as Daemen improves to a league best 9-3 and 2-0.

How it Happened

  • As a team, Daemen recorded 53 kills compared to STAC's 35. The Wildcats also had 9 blocks and 46 assists, while the Spartans tallied 6 blocks and 34 assists.
  • Daemen outhit St. Thomas Aquinas by a .182 to .095 margin for the match.
  • Evie Paalman led the Spartans offense with a match-high 14 kills. She also registered one assist and seven digs.
  • Anna Gazzerro recorded 16 serve assists (4.0 assists/set). Gazzerro also accumulated two service aces and nine digs for the maroon and gold.
  • Lea Venghaus picked up 12 assists, two service aces and four digs.
  • Greta Santini tallied nine kills, one assist, one service ace, seven digs and a block assist on the afternoon.
  • Chloe Weiting and Isis Barrett posted four kills apiece, with Barrett accumulating two digs a solo block and two block assists and Weiting putting together a one assist, two dig effort against the Wildcats.
  • Lauren Fields added to the Spartans totals with three kills and two block assists.
