Women's Volleyball Dealt 3-1 Loss At Molloy

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team wrapped up its three-match East Coast Conference road trip with a 3-1 setback to Molloy University at Bob Houlihan Gymnasium on Long Island.

A talented Lions squad narrowly won the first set, and then pounced for a ten-point second set victory, before the Spartans were able to take the third set and avoid a sweep. However, the hosts from Nassau County ultimately closed things out with a big triumph in the fourth set to secure the team victory.

STAC falls to 5-13 overall and 0-6 in ECC action, while Molloy improves to 12-7 and 3-3.

How it Happened

  • As a team, Molloy recorded 54 kills compared to STAC's 39. The Lions also had 8 blocks and 49 assists, while the Spartans tallied 5 blocks and 38 assists.
  • Molloy outhit STAC by a .259 to .104 margin for the match.
  • Chloe Weiting led the Spartans offense with a team-high 12 kills. She also registered one assist, five digs, a solo block and a block assist.
  • Lea Venghaus recorded 32 serve assists (8.0 assists/set). Venghaus also accumulated three kills, a service ace, a match-high 18 digs and a block assist for the maroon and gold.
  • Evie Paalman tallied seven kills, two assists, a service ace and 10 digs on the afternoon.
  • Christianna Roberts posted four kills, two digs and two block assists against the Lions.
  • Greta Santini added to the Spartans totals with six kills, an assist, two service aces, three digs and two block assists.
  • Isis Barrett accumulated seven kills, two assists, four service aces, seven digs and two block assists across four sets on Saturday.
