
Rochester, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team opened the final month of the regular season on Saturday by besting Roberts Wesleyan University in a five-set thriller, 3-2, on the road at the Voller Athletic Center in Western New York.
STAC improves to 7-14 overall and 1-7 in ECC action, while Roberts Wesleyan falls to 11-9 and 2-5 on the year.
The Spartans opened the match by taking the first two sets, leaving the host Redhawks on the ropes. However, Roberts Wesleyan fought back to take the third and fourth sets to force a fifth and deciding set. In the tie-breaking set, St. Thomas Aquinas narrowly took the victory on back-to-back kills by Evie Paalman, with both set up by teammate Lea Venghaus.

How it Happened
- As a team, STAC recorded 64 kills compared to Roberts Wesleyan's 67. The Spartans also had 8 blocks and 62 assists, while the Redhawks tallied 6 blocks and 67 assists.
- Roberts Wesleyan outhit STAC by a .220 to .199 margin for the match.
- Evie Paalman paced the Spartans offense with a team-high 18 kills. She also registered one assist, 19 digs and a solo block.
- Lea Venghaus tallied 52 serve assists (10.4 assists/set). Venghaus also accumulated five kills, a service ace, 11 digs and a block assist for the maroon and gold.
- Greta Santini recorded 16 kills, an assist, three service aces, 15 digs and a block assist on the afternoon.
- Isis Barrett put together an 13 kill, five dig, one solo block and two block assist effort against the Redhawks.
- Chloe Weiting registered 11 kills, two assists, two service aces, 13 digs and four block assists for the Spartans.
- Dahiana Garcia Atuesta kept the opposition from scoring and the ball in play with three assists and 11 digs.
