Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball program wrote a new chapter in its short NCAA-era history on Tuesday evening, as the team welcomed fans to the newly renovated Spartan Athletic Complex.
The facility is the new home to both Spartans Volleyball squads, and additionally houses training amenities for the baseball, softball and golf teams. The site will also serve as the future home to the college's cross country and track and field programs, with construction in its early stages on an outdoor track.
A raucous, sellout crowd saw STAC christen its new residence by beating Bloomfield College of Montclair State University, 3-1 in a non-conference matchup.
The Spartans improve to 2-2 on the season, while the Bears slip to 0-1.
Prior to the contest, members of the college community, including administration, faculty, staff and both the men's and women's volleyball teams gathered for an official ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating the opening of St. Thomas Aquinas College's newest athletic facility.
