Women's Volleyball Drops Tri-Match Pair with Adelphi and Assumption

Worcester, Mass. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team made the trip north for another weekend tri-match, this time with Adelphi University and hosts Assumption University at Andrew Laska Gymnasium.

In the pair of Saturday afternoon matches, STAC dropped a 3-0 decision to the Panthers and lost 3-1 to the Greyhounds to fall to 3-11 on the year.

How it Happened

  • As a team, Adelphi recorded 42 kills compared to St. Thomas Aquinas' 26. The Panthers also had 8 blocks and 40 assists, while the Spartans tallied 2 blocks and 25 assists.
  • Adelphi outhit STAC by a .333 to .026 margin for the match.
  • Adriana Zarceno paced the Spartans offense with a team-high ten kills. She also has a serve assist, a service ace, six digs and a block assist.

How it Happened

  • As a team, Assumption recorded 49 kills compared to St. Thomas Aquinas' 42. The Greyhounds also had 11 blocks and 47 assists, while the Spartans tallied no blocks and 41 assists.
  • Assumption outhit STAC by a .240 to .156 margin for the match.
  • Adriana Zarceno paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 15 kills. She also registered a service ace and 10 kills.
  • Anna Gazzerro tallied a match-high 33 serve assists (8.25 assists/set). Gazzerro also accumulated three service aces and seven kills for the maroon and gold.
  • Laura Rojas Gomez picked up eight kills and a dig in her second match of the day.
  • Kamila Zoe Rosa racked up six kills.
  • Christianna Roberts contributed five kills and a dig.
