The Spartans had a very successful day at the UAlbany Invitational on Saturday.  The top two runners on both the men's and women's sides (Vinny Modaferri, Einar Brissing, Sarah Callagy and Chelsea Klinger) ran personal bests along with freshman Kelsey Scardera.  Modafferi (25:58) is the first Spartan to break 26:00 minutes under head coach Nicole Ballou. Brissing crossed the line in 26:20 as the second Spartan finisher.  On the women's side Callagy ran a personal best for the third consecutive week finishing in 19:43 followed by classmate Klinger in 20:17.  Freshman Kelsey Scardera dropped two minutes from her best time.

Modaferri finished the race in 50th place and was the first Division II finisher to cross the line while Brissing was the second.  Freshman James Patton finished in 30:22 followed by Dan Nilsen in 33:56.

The Callagy and Klinger duo have been vital to the success of the Lady Spartans.  They have lead the team in every competition and have consistently dropped seconds from their times.  Sophomore Lisa Brevogel (23:23) has begun to peak heading into the conference championship.  Finishing in 24:28, Andrea Riquelme has established herself as the Lady Spartan's fourth scorer but will continue to push Brevogel.  Freshman Kelsey Scardera stepped up for her team running a personal best of 27:18.

STAC will be back in action on Sunday as they take on their conference opponents in the East Coast Conference Championship at C.W. Post.
